The Chicago White Sox have announced they will not be renewing the contract of John Schriffen, their lead television play-by-play announcer. The team informed Schriffen of the decision on Monday, signaling a forthcoming change in their broadcast team.

Schriffen, who began his role ahead of the 2024 season, succeeded Jason Benetti, who departed after the 2023 season to join the Detroit Tigers’ television broadcast team. During his tenure, Schriffen became known for his energetic style and trademark call, "South Side, stand up!"

Brooks Boyer, the White Sox executive vice president and chief revenue and marketing officer, issued a statement acknowledging Schriffen’s professionalism and contributions over the past three seasons. Boyer noted the team’s intention to reevaluate the direction of their broadcasts and determine the best path forward for both the organization and its fan base.

“We are appreciative of John’s contributions and the connection he built with our fan base,” Boyer said, wishing Schriffen success in his future endeavors.

The White Sox will commence a national search to find a new lead television announcer. Meanwhile, the team confirmed that the radio broadcast lineup will remain unchanged, with Len Kasper continuing to call games alongside Darrin Jackson.
