Jerusalem is set to host the Global Jewish Educators Summit from October 12 to 15, bringing together more than 300 Jewish education professionals from Israel and around the world. The four-day event, organized by Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, aims to foster collaboration, share educational strategies, and reinforce ties within the global Jewish community. Originally planned for March, the summit was postponed due to the conflict known as Operation Roaring Lion.
The gathering will take place at Jerusalem’s Ramada Hotel and will include over 200 educators from the Diaspora alongside 100 Israeli teachers and educational leaders. Participants will engage in workshops and discussions designed to introduce new pedagogical tools and methodologies, while also building lasting professional networks.
UnitEd, an organization dedicated to supporting Jewish day schools internationally, is facilitating the summit. Rachel Fink, UnitEd’s director of education, emphasized the importance of educators’ daily roles, stating that the future of Jewish education depends not solely on programs or curricula but on those teaching Jewish children directly. She noted the summit’s purpose is to acknowledge educators’ responsibilities, promote knowledge exchange among global peers, and strengthen connections with Israel.
Central to the event is recognition of outstanding educators through the Jewish Teachers Award, which will be presented to eight individuals for their exceptional contributions to Jewish education and community-building.
The summit’s agenda focuses on three key themes: the personal identity and mission of educators; the relationship between Israel and Jewish communities worldwide; and the imperative to transmit Jewish knowledge, values, and a sense of belonging. Organizers aim for attendees to return to their communities equipped with fresh ideas, expanded professional networks, and a renewed commitment to their educational mission.
Beyond professional development, the summit reflects Israel’s broader commitment to supporting Jewish educators globally and enhancing collaboration between Israel and Diaspora Jewry. By reinforcing these bonds, the summit seeks to contribute to the continuity and vitality of Jewish life worldwide.
