The Family Consulting Center (Wifaq), part of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, hosted an art-based awareness exhibition titled “Rawabet (Bonds): Visual Stories Strengthening Family Ties” from October 1 to 4 at Doha Festival City, Qatar’s prominent retail and lifestyle destination. The event aimed to promote family cohesion through a blend of visual art and social messaging, engaging the public in themes surrounding family relationships.
The exhibition showcased 14 interactive artworks presenting diverse artistic interpretations of family life, focusing on elements such as dialogue, active listening, emotional support, mutual respect, and the significance of spending quality time together. These pieces highlighted how family cohesion is cultivated through consistent positive choices and daily interactions rather than singular moments.
Participants explored various aspects of familial bonds—some works emphasized the role of parental presence in providing children with confidence and security, while others addressed the complementary roles of mothers and fathers, the importance of love and communication between spouses, and the creation of a stable home environment. Several artworks portrayed the family as a foundation of security and belonging, underscoring the enduring value of shared experiences and collective memories.
The exhibition also placed special emphasis on young people and those preparing for marriage by introducing awareness and preparatory programs geared toward premarital education. These initiatives aim to equip future spouses with the skills and understanding necessary to navigate marital life, fostering communication and mutual respect from the outset. Interactive components encouraged visitors to contemplate their own family relationships and the bonds they share.
By hosting “Rawabet” at Doha Festival City, Wifaq sought to extend its community outreach and present family-focused messages through innovative, immersive formats that move beyond traditional awareness campaigns. The initiative underscored the center’s broader mission to promote early engagement with family and counseling services at various stages of family life, challenging the notion that such support is needed only in times of conflict.
Wifaq’s approach leverages art’s capacity to evoke emotion and stimulate reflection, providing a platform for dialogue about family cohesion within daily life. Through this exhibition, the center highlighted the importance of nurturing family dynamics as a continuous process and reaffirmed its role in offering accessible resources to support families across Qatar.
