The scheduled first-round ladies’ doubles match featuring Serena and Venus Williams remained pending as of Thursday evening, while all other opening-round matches at Wimbledon had proceeded as planned. The Williams sisters’ contest against Solana Sierra and Camila Osorio was still listed as "to be announced" for Friday’s order of play.

Initially, their match was expected to take place on Thursday, but Wimbledon officials postponed it to allow Serena Williams additional time to recover from a knee injury sustained during her singles loss to Maya Jošt on Tuesday night. Tournament director Jamie Baker emphasized the need for flexibility in such situations, citing exceptional circumstances like injuries, weather, or players competing across multiple events as reasons for scheduling adjustments.

“We are giving her as much time [as possible],” Baker said, adding that while delays are uncommon, they occasionally occur and do not compromise the overall integrity of the competition.

Meanwhile, Venus Williams participated in the mixed doubles draw, partnering with Germany’s Kevin Krawietz. The pair was defeated 6-4, 6-4 by Tereza Mihalikova and Britain’s Lloyd Glasspool on Thursday. The postponement of the doubles match leaves the Williams sisters awaiting their opportunity to compete together in the women’s doubles event.
