Winslow United secured a crucial away victory at Welwyn Garden City, moving into the play-off positions with a 2-1 win at Herns Way on Saturday. The newly promoted Bucks side came from behind to claim the three points, thanks in part to a rare goal from defender Charlie Attwell and a late strike by substitute Levi Nicholson.

Welwyn Garden City took an early lead in the 18th minute when captain Eddie Corbit scored from a right-wing corner. The goal came courtesy of a fortunate deflection off the shoulder of striker Ethan Rookard, which looped past Winslow goalkeeper Jake Stronge. Prior to that, the hosts had shown intent with a first-half effort from Malik Nosike that struck the crossbar.

Winslow were trailing until late in the second half when Attwell delivered a remarkable goal from nearly 40 yards. The defender's clearance from inside his own half caught Welwyn’s goalkeeper, Connor Sansom, off guard as the ball sailed over him to level the score.

The Bucks then completed their comeback 18 minutes from time when substitute Levi Nicholson capitalized on a well-worked right-wing move, driving the visitors ahead and ultimately securing the win.

Stronge’s performance in goal was notable, helping to keep Winslow in the game during key moments despite the early setback. The result lifts Winslow United into the play-off places, underscoring their strong start in the campaign following promotion.
