More than 8,000 visitors attended an open day at the Holy Spirit Seminary in Wong Chuk Hang on October 1, marking significant anniversaries for the Catholic community in Hong Kong. The event coincided with the 80th anniversary of the Catholic diocese of Hong Kong, as well as the 95th anniversary of the seminary itself and the 55th anniversary of its associated college of theology and philosophy.
The seminary, which trains young men preparing for the priesthood, welcomed crowds eager to explore its historic premises. The building, listed as a grade three historic site, drew attention for its architectural features and intricately designed interior spaces. Attendees were able to examine rare heritage collections preserved in the seminary’s archives, providing insight into its longstanding religious and educational mission.
The open day also featured a variety of activities, including stage performances and interactive stalls that engaged visitors of all ages. In addition, there were introductory classes on theology and philosophy offered for those interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the seminary’s academic focus.
