Woking and Kidderminster Harriers played to a goalless draw at the Laithwaite, with both sides extending their recent positive form but unable to break the deadlock. The result, achieved on Saturday, maintained Kidderminster’s unbeaten streak at eight matches, while Woking missed a key opportunity to secure three points late in the game.
Woking’s interim manager Craig Ross expressed frustration after striker John Marquis missed a significant chance five minutes before full time. Ross noted that his team had dominated large portions of the match and appeared likely to score, particularly in the second half. His side followed a similar lineup to previous fixtures, aiming for continuity after a 5-1 victory over Altrincham and a draw at Boston.
The match began with Woking taking the initiative. Around the 12th minute, a quick counterattack involving Marquis, Timmy Akinola, and Matt Ward resulted in Ward firing just over the crossbar. Kidderminster soon responded as Callum Dolan’s cross set up Levi Amantchi, but the Woking goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen managed to parry the effort. Despite periods of pressure from both teams, scoring opportunities were limited, with Woking coming close again through Marquis, whose tame shot was easily saved by Kidderminster’s keeper Jack Wint.
In the second half, Woking remained the more threatening side, winning several free kicks and maintaining pressure, but failed to convert chances. Aidan O’Brien’s cutback into the box saw Marquis and Roy Syla both unable to finish, while Jake Forster-Caskey’s low free kick was comfortably saved by Wint.
The critical moment arrived late when Syla’s precise cross found Marquis, who volleyed the ball over the bar from close range. Woking’s inability to capitalize left Kidderminster to hold onto the draw.
Kidderminster manager Paul Wotton considered the point a positive result given the difficulty of playing away at Woking. He acknowledged the physical nature of the contest and the high number of fouls, describing the match as tough but not ill-tempered. With the draw, Kidderminster remain third in the league standings and affirmed their resilience after an intensive midweek-to-weekend schedule.
The two teams now look ahead to their next fixtures, hopeful of building on recent good performances as the season progresses.
