Woking secured a 3-0 victory over Eastbourne Borough in their final pre-season match ahead of the National League season, held on Saturday. The match, played at Woking’s home ground, saw the National League side come from a goalless first half to dominate the second period and claim the win.

Eastbourne Borough, competing in the Isthmian Premier League, started strongly and controlled much of the early play. Kai Corbett came close to opening the scoring with a free-kick, which Woking goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen saved comfortably. Eastbourne’s keeper Lewis Carey was tested midway through the first half when Aiden O’Brien’s first-time shot was saved. Both teams created opportunities before halftime, including a shot from Darren McQueen that was deflected into Jaaskelainen’s arms and another try from O’Brien that Carey denied at the far post.

The second half saw changes from Woking that shifted momentum. Substitute Basil Tuma broke the deadlock by controlling the ball inside the penalty area and firing a low shot past James Taylor, who had come on for Eastbourne’s goalkeeper. Despite Eastbourne’s continued threat—most notably when Gold Omotayo was denied by Jaaskelainen—Woking extended their lead in the 55th minute. Harrison Sohna delivered a pass across the six-yard box, allowing Sean Adarkwa to tap the ball into the net.

Shortly after, Taylan Harris increased Woking’s advantage by cutting inside from the right flank and scoring with a low shot into the near corner. Eastbourne’s Corbett attempted to reduce the deficit with another dangerous free-kick, but Jaaskelainen managed to tip the ball around the post. Woking sealed the victory with seven minutes remaining when Josh Ayres found the bottom corner to make it 3-0.

Late in the game, substitute Elijah Oladunjoye contributed to the final goal-scoring action by launching a long throw into Eastbourne’s penalty area, which James Taylor failed to clear effectively, allowing Michael Stickland to tap the ball over the line during a scramble. However, this was ruled off as the final score remained 3-0 to Woking.

The result provides a positive conclusion to Woking’s pre-season preparations ahead of the National League campaign. Eastbourne Borough will look to build on their competitive first-half performance as they enter their Isthmian Premier League season.
