Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has joined Scottish champions Celtic on a season-long loan, looking to provide competition for first-choice keeper Viljami Sinisalo. The 33-year-old, who signed for Wolves from Crystal Palace in 2024, appeared in just 19 Premier League matches for the Midlands club before securing the move.

Johnstone revealed that a conversation with former England goalkeeper Joe Hart helped reinforce his decision to join Celtic. “I didn’t need convincing but Joe Hart rang me just to reiterate what a place this is, what a great group of lads and how the fans are unbelievable,” Johnstone said. “For someone like that to ring me up and reiterate the size of the club and what it means to people, it just made me so excited to get started.”

In addition to Johnstone, Celtic have also added Chelsea forward Shumaira Mheuka on loan for the season. The 18-year-old attacker featured in four games for the Blues last term and expressed enthusiasm about joining the Scottish side. “You feel the history as you walk in,” Mheuka remarked.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has emerged as a potential transfer target for Turkish club Trabzonspor. The 29-year-old Brazilian forward is currently in limbo after declining a move back to Everton prior to the Premier League’s transfer deadline on Tuesday. Following that, Richarlison issued a statement emphasizing his intent to control his own career moves, saying, “no one will ever again decide my future.”

Trabzonspor remains interested and is reportedly preparing a formal approach to Spurs this week, as the Turkish transfer window remains open until Thursday evening. Alongside Richarlison, Trabzonspor is also tracking West Ham striker Pablo as they seek to strengthen their attacking options.

Richarlison is reportedly open to negotiations with the Turkish club, but reaching an agreement on a transfer fee with Tottenham could be challenging. Spurs had anticipated receiving approximately £35 million from Everton before that deal fell through.

Trabzonspor has recently demonstrated its financial capability to attract high-profile players, signing free agent Mohamed Salah to a two-year contract reportedly worth £363,000 per week after tax. The club’s president, Ertugrul Dogan, who played a key role in securing Salah’s transfer, is expected to be actively involved in pursuing Richarlison.
