A 38-year-old woman was arrested Sunday morning in connection with a violent attack in South Yarra that left a man seriously injured. Police executed a search warrant at a property on Howitt Street, where the woman was taken into custody for questioning. Authorities confirmed that the suspect was known to the victim.

The incident occurred just after midnight near the intersection of Malvern Road and Francis Street, where emergency responders found the male victim suffering from multiple injuries, including stab wounds and severe head trauma. He was promptly transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Surveillance footage captured the man staggering across Malvern Road while clutching his head, repeatedly attempting to flag down passing vehicles for assistance before collapsing on the footpath approximately 100 meters from the Prahran police station. Police and emergency personnel arrived shortly afterward, with investigators securing the scene and placing evidence markers along a visible blood trail on the roadway.

Local residents and business owners described the situation as disturbing. Adam Brierley, employed at a nearby café, described the scene as "pretty gory." Trevor Parker, who has operated a car repair shop in the area for over four decades, noted changes in the neighborhood’s population and rising incidents of violence. He remarked on having witnessed various disturbances over the years, but said the stabbing was particularly shocking given the severity and nature of the attack.

Victoria Police have not released further details regarding the motive or the condition of the victim as investigations continue. The woman remains in custody as inquiries progress.
