RAJSHAHI, Oct 12 – The body of a 70-year-old woman was found late Sunday night in a residence in the Kedurmor area of Rajshahi city, prompting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of her death. The deceased, identified as Khaleda Khanam Beli, was discovered in a room on the second floor of a two-storey building known as Beli Villa, where she lived alone.
Boalia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Masuma Mastu reported that police recovered the body at approximately 11:30 p.m. Initial observations suggest the death may be a homicide, as visible injuries were noted on Beli’s body. Authorities have since detained three individuals—a man and two women—for questioning as part of their inquiry.
A team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has also joined local law enforcement to assist in determining the exact cause and circumstances of her death. Police indicated that a formal case will be filed once the investigation progresses.
According to neighbors, Beli was a widow who resided on the upper floor of the building, while other tenants occupied the ground floor. She is survived by four children, with her family residing internationally and domestically: a son in the United States, two daughters living in England and China respectively, and another son based in Dhaka.
