A 70-year-old woman was found dead from a stab wound in Taman Wang, Menglembu, Perak, in an incident reportedly involving her daughter, authorities said. The victim’s daughter, 49, has been taken into custody pending investigation.

Perak police chief Commissioner Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin stated that police received a report from the victim’s son-in-law at approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday. The elderly woman, who was bedridden and required intensive care, had recently been brought home from an old folks' home, where she was under care. Following her return, she was being looked after by her daughter and son-in-law.

The suspect reportedly has a history of psychiatric treatment. Police believe the daughter may have been responsible for the fatal stabbing. A knife, suspected to be the weapon used in the incident, was also seized by law enforcement officials.

The detained woman is scheduled to be remanded until October 4 to allow further investigations under the Penal Code. Authorities continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the killing as the case develops.
