Authorities responded to a report of a woman’s body found floating in a pond at Bowne Park in Flushing, Queens, on Sunday evening. The discovery was made shortly after 6 p.m. when a bystander noticed the unconscious woman in the kettle pond and called 911, according to police.
Upon arrival, officers located the woman’s body near a fountain within the pond. Emergency personnel carefully removed the body from the water and placed it on the grass as onlookers gathered nearby. The woman’s identity has not been disclosed.
Bowne Park, typically known as a quiet and peaceful area, drew a number of concerned locals during the response. One resident, who was walking her dog at the time, described the scene as unsettling.
The New York Police Department has confirmed that a medical examiner is conducting an examination to determine the cause of death. The investigation remains active, with authorities continuing to gather information.
