Worksop Town concluded their pre-season schedule undefeated with a 3-1 victory over Sheffield United at their home ground on Saturday. The win was secured through goals from Liam Waldock, Aleks Starcenko, and Josh Wilde, highlighting a strong performance by the Tigers ahead of their National League North campaign.

The match began with Worksop Town showing early intent, as Aleks Starcenko came close following a well-placed cross from Oli Greaves, though his shot sailed over the crossbar. Around the 30-minute mark, Vaughan Redford created a promising opportunity with a flicked header, but the subsequent shot by Liam Waldock was saved by the Sheffield United goalkeeper.

Worksop Town’s persistence paid off just before halftime when Greaves earned a penalty after drawing a foul inside the box. Waldock, who previously played for Sheffield Wednesday, calmly converted the spot-kick, placing the ball into the bottom-left corner to give the home side the lead heading into the break.

In the second half, Worksop extended their advantage when Mason O’Malley delivered a long, looping cross that struck the post. Starcenko reacted quickly to the rebound and scored, doubling the Tigers’ lead. Sheffield United responded ten minutes later with a goal from Bailey Miller, narrowing the deficit to 2-1.

However, substitute Josh Wilde made an immediate impact by heading in a corner from Waldock, restoring Worksop’s two-goal cushion. The match ended with Worksop Town maintaining their unbeaten pre-season record.
