Wrexham midfielder Josh Windass has expressed strong confidence in his team’s prospects for promotion to the Premier League this season. Speaking ahead of the campaign, Windass emphasized that Wrexham is now seen as a serious contender in the Championship.

Windass, who was one of 13 new signings for Wrexham last summer, highlighted the quality of the squad assembled. “We had a Championship-ready team, but that will stand us in good stead this season,” he said. The 28-year-old attacking midfielder was a key contributor last term, netting 16 goals in the Championship—ranking among the top scorers in the league.

The player also shared insights into his mindset on the pitch, revealing a long-held confidence in his own abilities. “Since I was 12 I have had a delusional belief that I’m the best player in every team I play in. I still believe that,” Windass said. “Every game I go into, I have a belief that if I’m playing well and on my game, then nobody can really stop me.”

Wrexham’s ambition for the season is clear: Win one of the two automatic promotion spots to reach the Premier League. “The aim is top two – and if you can’t get there then it’s the next best spot. We expect to be in and around those positions,” Windass added.

Meanwhile, Millwall manager Alex Neil faces challenges of his own with the early loss of defender Tristan Crama to ankle surgery. Neil’s objective remains securing a place in the Championship play-offs, but the injury setback adds pressure to his plans.

As the season approaches, Wrexham appears poised to mount a serious push for Premier League promotion, bolstered by Windass’s leadership and the club’s strengthened roster.
