Written Scandal has shown promising form in its return to racing, demonstrating competitiveness over distances around 1200 meters at Canterbury. The five-year-old mare, trained by Peter Snowden and sired by Written Tycoon out of Scandalese, has a record that includes a win and multiple placings across various track conditions and distances.

Most recently, Written Scandal finished fourth in a 1250-meter fillies and mares Benchmark 72 event at Canterbury on August 12, 2026. She was narrowly beaten by a margin of 0.7 lengths, finishing behind Jenni The Jet and Kakadu Sunset. Ridden by C. Schofield, the mare settled in seventh position during the race and faced some crowding near the 1000-meter mark. After the run, her rider was advised to exercise more care in future outings. The track was rated soft with a final time of 1:13.22.

Two weeks prior, on July 22, Written Scandal placed fifth in the 1200-meter Benchmark 72 race for three-year-olds and upward, also held at Canterbury. Under the guidance of jockey T. Sherry, she maintained an eighth position early and into the turn, finishing 6.1 lengths behind the winner, Watson. The race was run on a soft track with a time of 1:11.35, with the final 600 meters covered in 36.21 seconds.

Written Scandal has demonstrated versatility across track conditions classified as firm, good, soft, and heavy, with a preferred racing distance near 1000 to 1200 meters. Over her career, the mare has participated in 35 starts, achieving one win and eight second-place finishes, accruing $112,625 in prize money. Her performance ratings suggest she is firm in form, with a 21.4% winning rate and has been particularly effective when freshened between runs.

While stepping up in class for recent outings, Written Scandal continues to show she can contribute meaningfully in Benchmark-level races. Connections remain optimistic that her ability to knuckle down and settle in races will allow her to maintain consistency against strong fields in the current season.
