Chinese President and Communist Party leader Xi Jinping presented the July 1 Medal, the highest honor of the Communist Party of China (CPC), on Wednesday during a ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The event marked the 105th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and recognized individuals and organizations for their exemplary contributions to the Party and the nation.
Eight recipients received the July 1 Medal, which was established in 2021 to be awarded every five years on major Party anniversaries. The honorees represent diverse sectors and were chosen for their unwavering commitment to Party ideals, loyalty, and dedication to the country and its people. According to the decision made by the CPC Central Committee, these individuals demonstrate a people-first approach, actively work to promote the interests of the population, and undertake their duties with a strong sense of responsibility and mission.
Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, publicly read the decision during the gathering. The statement highlighted that the recipients maintain political integrity and honesty, embody fine work conduct, and earn wide recognition within the Party and society at large. The CPC called on all Party members to emulate these role models and contribute toward building a modern socialist country and achieving what it terms the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
In addition to the medal recipients, numerous outstanding Party members, Party workers, and primary-level Party organizations from across China were also recognized at the event. The ceremony featured a formal procession, including a motorcade accompanied by motorcycle escorts and honor guards who carried the July 1 Medal into the venue.
One notable awardee, Zhong Jue, born in 1936, is a pioneering academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a leading expert in mechanical engineering. His recognition underscores the Party’s emphasis on honoring contributions across scientific and technical fields, as well as other areas.
The design of the July 1 Medal reflects simplicity and solemnity, featuring the Party emblem, a five-pointed star, and colors of red, gold, and white, symbolizing key elements of the Party’s identity and values.
The anniversary ceremony drew attendees including top Party and state leaders, representatives from all walks of life, and members of the media, both domestic and international, underscoring the event’s significance in highlighting the Party’s history and ongoing priorities.
