Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Peru and Montenegro in separate messages exchanged on Monday. Xi conveyed his congratulations to Peru’s president-elect, Keiko Fujimori, and marked the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Montenegro’s President Jakov Milatovic.

In his message to Fujimori, Xi highlighted the comprehensive strategic partnership that China and Peru have developed, citing frequent high-level exchanges, productive cooperation across multiple sectors, and strong people-to-people connections. This year also marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which Xi said underscores the importance China places on their ongoing relationship. He expressed his readiness to work closely with Fujimori to build on the existing friendship and elevate the partnership to new levels aimed at benefiting the populations of both nations.

Regarding Montenegro, Xi noted the longstanding friendship that the two countries share, emphasizing mutual respect, equality, and win-win cooperation as key elements of their relationship. Over the past two decades since the establishment of ties, China and Montenegro have fostered a model of friendly relations despite their differing sizes. Xi expressed his intention to collaborate with Milatovic in advancing bilateral cooperation and strengthening ties as they commemorate this diplomatic milestone.

President Milatovic responded by reaffirming Montenegro’s commitment to maintaining friendly and cooperative relations with China based on mutual respect and understanding. He described the 20th anniversary as an opportunity to further consolidate their partnership, expand collaboration across various fields, and promote mutual benefits. Milatovic also highlighted Montenegro’s desire to contribute to global peace and development through its engagement with China.

Both leaders underscored the importance of their respective bilateral relationships and expressed optimism about deepening cooperation in the future. These gestures reflect China’s broader diplomatic efforts to cultivate lasting partnerships based on shared interests and reciprocal development.
