Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, responding to an invitation from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to a statement from China’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

Ahead of the summit, Beijing emphasized the importance of maintaining a fair and transparent business environment for Chinese and other international companies operating in India. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun urged Indian authorities to ensure that foreign enterprises benefit from a business climate characterized by fairness, justice, transparency, and non-discrimination.

Guo highlighted the mutually beneficial and win-win nature of economic and trade cooperation between China and India, underscoring the value both countries place on their commercial ties. The call reflects ongoing concerns about the operating conditions faced by Chinese firms in India, amid broader geopolitical tensions between the two Asian neighbors.

The BRICS Summit, bringing together Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, serves as a forum for dialogue and collaboration among emerging economies. President Xi’s participation marks a significant moment for China-India relations, as both sides seek to advance their economic collaboration despite existing challenges.
