Leipzig’s managing director for sport, Marcel Schafer, has previously affirmed that Diomande is expected to remain with the club for the upcoming campaign. However, head coach Martin Demichelis expressed a more cautious stance during the weekend, noting that while Diomande is contracted to Leipzig, the final decision depends on the club’s management. "He has a contract here. Marcel Schafer must sort out everything else," Demichelis said.

Diomande joined Leipzig last year from Spanish side Leganés, signing a deal lasting until 2030 without a release clause. He delivered an impressive performance in his first Bundesliga season, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists. His recent performances at the World Cup also drew attention from elite clubs.

Reports indicate that Leipzig have rejected an initial bid of up to €100 million (approximately $114 million) from Real Madrid, although negotiations are ongoing. The club previously turned down a comparable offer from Liverpool. According to the German newspaper Bild, Leipzig is seeking at least €120 million to consider parting with the winger. Despite the interest and substantial offers, the club’s preference remains to retain Diomande for at least another year to further develop his talent.
