Yeovil Town secured a commanding 4-1 victory over Solihull Moors at Huish Park on Friday evening, thanks largely to a late brace from substitute Johl Powell. The win marked one of Yeovil’s most dominant performances of the season, drawing a crowd of 2,886 spectators.

The home side took an early lead in the 15th minute when Ryan Jones capitalized on a turnover by Hayden Muller before curling a precise left-footed finish past Solihull goalkeeper Nathaniel Ford. Yeovil continued to press throughout the first half, while Solihull struggled to find rhythm despite some promising efforts from Josh Wakeling and Tyrell Warren.

Yeovil extended their advantage in the 56th minute through Slavi Spasov, who scored from close range following sustained pressure. Despite improved intent from Solihull as the second half progressed, Yeovil’s defense and goalkeeper Jos Barker kept the visitors at bay, with Barker making several crucial saves.

Solihull briefly reignited their hopes in the 87th minute when Barker inadvertently deflected a corner into his own net. However, the visitors’ resurgence was short-lived. Powell, introduced with six minutes remaining, struck twice in stoppage time to seal the victory. His first goal came shortly before the 90th minute, finishing into the far corner, while his second capitalized on a late error by Ford.

Yeovil manager Billy Rowley praised Powell’s professionalism, noting his positive attitude despite limited recent opportunities. “He has been a top-class professional every single day,” Rowley said. “He has been left out of the squad and, when we were scoring goals, he was high-fiving people and celebrating. What a time to take his moment.”

Solihull manager Chris Millington acknowledged the quality of Yeovil’s performance and attributed his side’s shortcomings to fatigue. “Yeovil clearly deserved winners,” Millington said. “They were bright and sharp in their rotations, but we looked like a team that needed a breather. We got ourselves back into it at 2-1, but Yeovil put us to the sword.”

The result leaves Yeovil Town bolstered in the league standings, while Solihull Moors will seek to recover as they continue their campaign.
