China’s Ruoning Yin ended a nearly two-year winless period on the LPGA Tour by capturing her sixth career title at the FM Championship on Sunday. The 23-year-old secured a two-shot victory at TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts, finishing with a total score of 14 under par after a closing round of two-under 70.

Yin, who had previously won the 2023 Women’s PGA Championship among her five career LPGA titles, delivered a rollercoaster performance marked by five birdies and three bogeys. She sealed her victory with a crucial birdie on the par-five 18th hole, an achievement that brought an emotional response as she knelt on the green with tears of relief and joy.

The win came after an extended period without a title since her 2024 triumph at the Maybank Championship. Despite consistent high-level play, including two runner-up finishes and a recent tie for fourth at the CPKC Women’s Open, Yin had struggled to close out tournaments in recent seasons. Speaking after the event, she acknowledged doubts she had faced during the winless stretch but emphasized the importance of patience and perseverance.

“I’ve had quite a few times where I was really close but just kept missing by one or two,” Yin said. “I doubted if I can win on this tour again. I was not a happy person last year; but this year I think I learned a lot. The biggest thing I learned is that life comes from you, not at you. And that good things take time and just be patient about it.”

Yin’s closest competitors included South Korea’s Kim Hyo-joo, who finished second at 12 under after a one-under 71, and Kim Sei-young, who tied for fourth place at 11 under with Rose Zhang of the United States. Allisen Corpuz finished third with 11 under. Yin admitted she felt intense pressure down the stretch from her rivals, calling the final hole “the longest 18th hole” she had ever played.

Yin also highlighted the support of her team and family, noting that her mother was present for the victory. The triumph is expected to bolster her confidence as she seeks to build on her early-career success. With 50 career top-25 finishes entering the week, this win marks a significant milestone in reestablishing her status among the tour’s elite players.
