York Knights secured their third consecutive victory after a dramatic comeback against Hull FC in a closely contested match on Saturday. Despite trailing 16-8 in the second half, York rallied to overturn the deficit and clinch the win, with Nikau Williams playing a pivotal role by scoring three tries.

Hull FC initially appeared to have the upper hand, with captain Aidan Sezer making a notable impact. Sezer scored a try from halfway and subsequently orchestrated another that enabled Tom Briscoe to cross the line. Joe Batchelor also contributed to Hull’s scoring surge, helping the team seize a lead that suggested they would maintain control.

However, York responded decisively after the halftime break, a period during which Hull FC appeared to lose momentum. Early on, David Nofoaluma and Jon Bennison had provided York with a comfortable advantage. Still, it was Denive Balmforth’s determined run—where he evaded four defenders to cross the line against his parent club—that reignited York’s challenge. Williams then completed the comeback by adding the decisive try late in the contest, solidifying York’s win.

Hull FC had a chance to salvage a draw when Herman Ese’ese appeared to have scored a late try. Nonetheless, the effort was ruled out for a knock-on after video review, eliminating Hull’s final opportunity to level the match.

The victory consolidates York’s strong run of form, marking their third straight win and underscoring their resilience in overturning a halftime deficit against a competitive Hull FC side. The match, played in front of their home supporters, highlighted York’s ability to maintain composure and finish strongly in tight encounters.
