A seven-year-old boy has died following a drowning incident at a beach in Essex that also claimed the lives of his teenage cousin and her mother. Musa Ahmed passed away on Tuesday evening at the Royal London Hospital, six days after being rescued from the water at West Mersea on July 22.

Musa and five relatives encountered difficulties in the water during a family outing to the coastal town, situated in southeast England. His aunt, 41-year-old Shelina Rahman, and his 15-year-old cousin Sameeha Rahman died at the scene. Musa was initially pulled from the water and received medical treatment but remained critically ill.

The family had traveled from Ilford, east London, for the day trip to the beach. Following Musa’s death, his family issued a statement expressing gratitude to the medical staff involved in his care. “We would also like to thank the Royal London Hospital intensive care unit team of doctors and nurses who demonstrated outstanding care and dignity whilst we have been at the hospital,” the statement read. “We would also like to thank the whole community for their support and prayers.”

Emergency services responded to the incident on July 22, but further details surrounding the circumstances of the accident have not been released. Authorities have not indicated any ongoing investigation at this time.
