Jolina Gisele, a 20-year-old Swiss technology heiress, has gained widespread attention for assembling a Pokémon card collection reportedly valued at more than £90 million. The collection contains over 60,000 cards, all in unopened and pristine condition, positioning it among the most valuable Pokémon card hoards in the world.

The collection was developed with assistance from her father, Urs, an entrepreneur in the field of AI security. Together, they have spent considerable time and resources acquiring the rare trading cards. Jolina explained that their investment was significant, stating that every Swiss franc not otherwise needed was put towards expanding their collection. She described the social aspect of Pokémon cards as a key appeal, noting how they brought together children of various ages who traded cards and forged friendships. She contrasted this with the popularity of football cards among boys, highlighting that Pokémon cards created a unique sense of unity for girls.

Despite the enthusiasm for the hobby, both Jolina and her mother expressed some concern about the scale of the spending. Jolina noted that there were moments when she felt her father might have taken the card collecting too far, commenting on the volume of daily deliveries and her father’s growing fixation on purchasing cards.

Urs himself acknowledged that while the financial aspect often dominates discussions, the primary significance of the collection lies in the time spent bonding with his daughter. He described the hobby as a way to connect, especially after long workdays when conversations about his usual interests, such as mathematics or physics, were less welcome at home. For Urs, collecting Pokémon cards became an activity that fostered a shared experience between father and daughter.
