The Kuwait Winter Sports Club, in collaboration with the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, concluded a two-month ice skating skills training course that attracted significant participation from local youth. The program, which took place over four sessions, saw approximately 150 trainees in each session, highlighting strong interest, particularly among younger participants.

Fuhaid Al-Ajmi, president of the Kuwait Winter Sports Club, said the initiative aimed to promote winter sports among promising young athletes and praised the trainees’ dedication throughout the course. The training served as a platform to identify talent for teams representing five winter sports overseen by the club: ice hockey, curling, figure skating, speed skating, and ice skating.

Ten coaches from the club’s staff were assigned to supervise and develop the trainees’ foundational ice skating skills. Al-Ajmi expressed gratitude to the coaching staff and underscored the importance of the partnership with the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, noting that the program forms part of the broader “Your Summer, Wayyana 2026” initiative. He emphasized that the collaboration aimed to provide productive ways for young Kuwaitis interested in winter sports to spend their summer vacation.

Fahad Al-Mutairi, representing the Public Authority for Youth and Sports and director of its Events and Community Partnerships Department, described the ice skating course as one of nine sessions held under a comprehensive program designed to encourage children and youth involvement in Olympic sports. He noted that the trainees received ample instruction time with qualified coaches and praised the Winter Sports Club for their support and cooperation in delivering the program.

The course concluded with a ceremony attended by numerous trainees, their families, and notable guests, including Juraj Khmial, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Kuwait. The event featured figure skating performances and presentations honoring the top trainees as well as the coaching staff who contributed to the program’s success.
