A fire at Aman Plastic Factory in Narikelbagh, Keraniganj, claimed the life of a young man and left another critically injured on Monday. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. and was extinguished by 3:30 p.m. after the deployment of seven fire service units.

The deceased, identified only as Sakib, was believed to be between 18 and 20 years old, though his full identity remains unconfirmed. Manik, 45, sustained severe burns covering his entire body and was rushed to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for treatment. Sultan Mahmud Sikdar, the resident surgeon at the facility’s emergency department, described Manik’s condition as critical.

Authorities suspect the fire began during painting operations inside the factory, which stored highly flammable materials such as thinner and other substances commonly used for coating toys. Assistant Director Kazi Nazmuzzaman of the fire service noted that these materials likely contributed to the rapid spread of the blaze.

Following the incident, fire officials announced plans to review the factory’s documentation to verify whether it held the necessary fire safety license and maintained an approved safety plan. The investigation aims to establish the cause of the fire and assess compliance with safety regulations.
