Social media personality and rapper Andrés Felipe Valencia Barrientos, known professionally as Yung Filly, was convicted on assault charges related to biting a woman during an incident in a Perth hotel room in September 2024. The 30-year-old entertainer wept in an Australian court after the jury found him guilty of two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

Barrientos faced multiple charges including six counts of rape, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count of choking. However, after three days of jury deliberations, the panel was unable to reach a verdict on the three rape charges, leaving open the possibility of a retrial.

The alleged victim was 20 years old at the time of the incident. Prosecutors argued that while the woman initially consented to sexual activity, she later withdrew consent out of fear for her safety. Photographic evidence presented in court showed bruising and bite marks on her face and neck.

During the eight-day trial, Barrientos testified that the marks on the woman were “love bites” and denied that she had ever indicated he was hurting her. He was acquitted on some of the charges but faces uncertainty regarding the unresolved rape allegations.

Barrientos had been touring Australia at the time, having performed in Sydney and Melbourne before the confrontation in Perth. Since his arrest, he has been released on bail and spent several months back in the United Kingdom.

The court’s decision marks a partial conviction amidst complex and serious charges, with further legal proceedings anticipated depending on the outcome of the unresolved counts.
