Zavateri, trained by Eve Johnson Houghton, steps down from Group 1 company and is well-regarded as a high-quality miler. The three-year-old colt’s recent performance at York suggested improvement; despite finishing fifth behind Notable Speech over seven furlongs, he demonstrated a strong finish and may have been caught out by the race distance. He also secured a respectable fifth place in the Sussex Stakes over the same course and distance on ground described as good to firm, though he reportedly performs well on softer, “juicy” turf conditions. The allowance in weight for his age could provide an additional advantage.

Seagulls Eleven is considered a significant threat if able to rebound following a disappointing run in the Sussex Stakes. The horse previously captured a Group 3 race and has shown competitiveness at this level over a mile distance, which is expected to suit him well.

Other notable entries include Boiling Point and Qirat. Boiling Point returns aiming to build on a narrow defeat in his most recent start and may benefit from this drop back to a mile. Qirat, who boasts an impressive record at the host course, also remains in contention. His recent fourth-place finish in the Lennox Stakes stands out, though his subsequent run in the Sussex Stakes may have come too soon after that effort.

The race is expected to provide a strong test for these contenders as they vie for success at this prestigious level.
